- I aten't ded, I just haven't been able to log on to tumblr for days. I miss it! I have been able to look at people's blogs, but it's not the same.

- I got the most wonderful Tuuri & Emil epistolary fic (with a few bonus letters between Emil and Lalli) for yuletide! It has friendship! Language acquisition! Background details about people's lives and jobs and preparations for the next expedition and such! You should definitely check it out if you're in the fandom and haven't yet.

- In the spirit of "Tuuri and Reynir are okay and they're going to be okay nothing's wrong what are you talking about", I did a shippy little watercolor, which you can see under the cut )

Oh and also

Some stuff I did for exchanges and whatnots a while back and never linked to here:

The Dressing Gown of Dimensions, a Chrestomanci/Discworld crossover written for rare pair fest. It features Millie/Christopher and Vetinari/Drumknott, as well as Roger, Julia, and Leonard of Quirm.

Also I did a pencil drawing and a digitally colored version of Steve Rogers with a golden apple of temptation for the WIP Big Bang.

For those of you who don't know, [livejournal.com profile] purimgifts is an exchange of short fic (300-1000 words, although if you post installments of the same story over the three days of posting you can get up to 3000 words) and graphics. It's focused on female characters, Jewish characters, and characters persecuted by evil viziers; it's fast-paced, often silly, and slightly manic; and now it's over and reveals have happened. So I can tell you that [livejournal.com profile] opalmatrix made me the following gifts:

A Heart at My Command: Amy/Quentin from Cyteen. Solidly physical and atmospheric and lovely.

She's Not There: Flower-in-the-Night/Abdullah from Castle in the Air. Magic spells! Married love! Problem-solving-skills! Flowery dialogue! (Some people apparently find Abdullah's speech patterns annoying but I love them okay.)

To the Top: Anthea Tesdinic from Conrad's Fate. OMG she actually drew me Anthea's fashion designs (with accompanying fashion-reporter commentary); I requested that but never expected it! (I want the blue one.)

I will post about my stories and some other stuff I liked later.

We interrupt your regularly-scheduled abandoning-lj-for-tumblr to post a link to something on tumblr.

It is, as most of you are probably unaware, Broh Week on tumblr, and I've written a series of Bolin/Iroh II drabbles for the occasion. One of which was turned into a comic by the incredible olifen!

How cool is that, seriously.

It all began, as it often does, with a dream: I don't recall the dream itself, but I woke up with the idea that Korra was a daughter of Poseidon, and thus Percy Jackson's little sister.

I was then seized with the urge to draw Percy, Hazel and Frank as pro benders. The elements line up perfectly! And I could design uniforms based on Roman Legionary armor!

So here they are, for the first time in Republic City, the pro bending champions from a different republic altogether: the Camp Jupiter Eagles!

Wombat eagles? Skink eagles? No, just . . . eagles. )

Last week was secret-soup's birthday. You may know Soup as the person who drew Henrietta; she definitely gets a seat on the lifeboat. Also, I drew her a comic in which Mordecai tells off Christopher at the end of Conrad's Fate:

I have been remiss in not posting this earlier, but check it out, everyone:

That there is Henrietta Gelek, enchantress, former street criminal, reluctant Tibetan priest, and the heroine of my story Endless Knot.

secret-soup drew her, because secret-soup is awesome like that.

So yesterday I wrote, as Aral Vorkosigan, a sonnet about the need for revolution on Barrayar. And [livejournal.com profile] bracketyjack responded, as Ezar Vorbarra:

Ezar's Reply to the Passionate Shepherd

Best. Comment. Ever.

Oh and while I'm at it!

iHeartNarlgles drew me Mordecai and Rosalie!

It's [livejournal.com profile] dracutgrl's birthday today!

A bit over a year ago, I wrote my first Chrestomanci fanfic. I was just getting into writing fanfic in general, having started and dropped a Harry Potter story several years previously, and taken a ramble through [livejournal.com profile] disney_kink. So I found myself in the middle of a plotty, multi-chapter story, and I asked on [livejournal.com profile] dianawynnejones for a beta, and that's how I met [livejournal.com profile] dracutgrl. She's betaed most of my Chrestomanci stories since (and I've written a lot of them.)

I may have mentioned once or twice in my acknowledgments that she's the best. She's always super supportive, ridiculously prompt, and has an eagle eye for typos. Also, she always leaves me comments on my stories when I post them even after she's commented on them during beta.

So I thought to myself, "[livejournal.com profile] dracutgrl's birthday is coming up; I should write her a short, fluffy, Christopher/Millie story." Only then, well, this happened. It's not short, it's not exactly fluffy--more like bittersweet--and although it's got Christopher/Millie in it, it's more of a gen Millie story overall.

Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] dracutgrl! I hope you like the story, even if it's not exactly what I meant to give you.

Snowfall

Fandom: The Chronicles of Chrestomanci

Characters and Pairings: Millie, Christopher, Gabriel, various young enchanters, castle staff, and original characters, Millie/Christopher

Rating: PG

Word count: 6,700

Summary: "Frost," I said scornfully. "I suppose this is what happens in a world where you haven't got a proper goddess to manage things."

Life in Twelve isn't exactly what Millie expected.

Eternal gratitude to: James, for betaing this on short notice over Christmas, above and beyond the call of duty. Someday he will stage an intervention and take away my em-dashes, and the world will be a better place. And also, for drawing the amazing illustration which you can find at the end of this story. Seriously, if you don't have the time or inclination to read this beast, click through anyway and scroll to the bottom; your impatience will be rewarded.

This one's for: [livejournal.com profile] dracutgrl

Fanart . . . by me?

Yeah, so I've been looking at a lot of fanart lately and I guess I just got the drawing bug. I drew Christopher and Millie and Conrad of course.

Chrestomanci fanart ahoy! And another superheroine in a sweater by OniYon, because I can't resist. )
minutia_r: (madgirl)
You guys. You guys. How come I've never come across kecky's art before?

She has drawn Chrestomanci fanart. She has drawn Witch Week fanart. To be perfectly specific, she has drawn Nirupam Singh in all his adorkable glory.

Nirupam! And some other DWJ characters. And some Disney characters, some of whom were originally Rudyard Kipling characters. )

Some of you may have noticed my rocking new icon, which is from a picture of Harley Quinn in a sweater by the incredibly talented and creative OniYon aka Hanie. It's been a good couple of weeks for fanart in general (I mean, many of these were posted earlier--some much earlier--but I found them in the last couple of weeks.) So here, have a picspam.

DCU, A:TLA, Girl Genius, and Chrestomanci fanarts below the cut. Look at them why don't you! )

Hey, [livejournal.com profile] imaginary_golux, I believe this is relevant to your interests:

And, for my readers in general, check out whittacker's deviantart, there's some nice stuff there. Including a couple of DWJ fanarts, which is how I came to be looking at it in the first place.
minutia_r: (fate)
So, [livejournal.com profile] morganna_le drew this picture of Christopher and Conrad in the library at Chrestomanci Castle for me:

Track this, people: He drew it for me. Because he liked my fanfic. (And,full disclosure, because I asked.) Christopher's got French cuffs and Conrad's got rolled-up sleeves and everything! In what way is that not awesome?

In celebration, have a few more fanarts of coniferous goodness from deviantart.Read more... )
